Lameness

Compared to past postings, the last like, 20 posts I've written are epically stupid and not worth attention. I do apologize for this. I will try to be more entertaining and witty in the future.

Unfortunately, I can not guarentee anything (except that I will mispell guarentee, along with most everything else).

Although, hopefully, all future typos will be made out of my own pure stupidity and not lack of typing skills--- in my new class this semester ("Front Office, Medical" haha, funny title) we work on typing exercises for an hour each class. Annoying, really, especially when you remember that a legit keyboard and the keyboard of a laptop are two completely different things.

So we'll see.

Fishies!

Check out the fish I added! They're my new delightful friends...

(to the right, under the archives and such--- if you click, you can feed them food!)

(Yes, I spent far more time than is probably good for me playing with these fake fish. Too bad so sad!)

Slipper Boots

My favorite article of clothing that I own would have to be my faux-sweater slipper boots.

I got them when I was fifteen. I was at Old Navy, and my father and sister were present, if I remember correctly. It was December, and we were out Christmas shopping. I remember seeing my boots boxed up on a shelf-- at first thinking they were real boots. I pointed out to whatever family was present that "I would be happy to receive them for Christmas *hinthint*." Knowing that neither one of them were actually going to purchase them for me, I went back a week later and purchased them myself.

At this time, upon opening the box (they were sealed up) at home to try them out, I realized they were slippers. All the better!

I've only worn them out inpublic once. Now that I think about it, it must have been right after I got them... It was the last day before Christmas Break sophmore year, you know, the day that kid Jessie blew off his face in the Bio room.

(Okay, probably only a small few of you actually knew and/or were there for that event. It was pretty exciting)

But due to the kid's stupid antics, the police and fire department came (they made all the kids that were in the classroom go to the gym and shower in front of the firemen, from what I recall, which is a lot, because Stephanie was one of the kids that had to do it, and it was quite tramatizing), and the closed down the middleof campus. I had to walk way out of my way a million times and got killer shin splints. That's when I learned that slippers do not make good long-distance footwear.

I still wear them all the time. There's just something cozy and soft about them.

For Christmas, I asked for a new pair (simply because I found some ridiculous pink feathery ones with sequins and I laughed), and got them. However, they squeak like crazy which I (and Diego, for that matter) can not handle, and they are, unfortuantely, too big.

Now I feel bad for betraying my old pair. And that is why I shall never throw them out.

Evidence that I should not take cold medicine:

While sick these last few weeks, I often suffered nasty naseua and stomachache due to too much medicine. Most of the time, I'd wake up in the middle of the night due to these nasty side effects.

One morning, I couldn't get my nasuea to go away and was quite distraught that I couldn't go back to sleep. Half delusional with pain and cold-sickness, I wrapped my arms around my knees, rocked myself back and forth, and sang girls camp songs over and over to distract myself.

Therefore, I am under the impression that cold medicine and I do not mix.

Goodreads.com!

Guess who finally joined up goodreads.com? I DID! Guess who's loving it? I AM!!!

Anyone who has any sort of inkling of joy in any sort of books... I advise you to check it out! You can keep a collection of the books you've read, write and read reviews, check out your favorite authors, all this good stuff.

My favorite part? It shows you the average rating of probably ever book ever... so when trying to decide if I should chance spending money on a new book (which is always a risk), all I have to do is pull up goodreads, and check the average. If it's over 4.0, it's worth it. But that's rare.

(Harry Potter and the Socerer's Stone is a 4.21 average)

I realize few people will also find my joy in this website. However, I really don't care. It rocks my nerdy socks, and I'm quite pleased with life :)

Making Your Eardrums Bleed

My biggest fear:

Accidentally buttdialing someone while singing in my car and having them overhear.

(Not that I'd ever STOP singing in my car, but... I'm quite paranoid, really.)

I Quickly Tire of Being Sick

Please don't hate me for blogging about my new shoes the other day. I'm on a lot of drugs. Drugs which, by the way, are making me totally sick and naseous all the flipping time. It's a lose-lose situation here.

I am, however, starting to finally get over this crappy cold. Kinda. Also, instead of my super-deep (non-uber-sexy, I'm sorry to say) voice, I suddenly have no voice at all. It's pretty... weird. Sometimes when theirs background noise, I can't even hear myself. THAT'S weird.

So, hopefully, I'll rejoin the living soon. We'll see.

And now, I'm off to spend the next hour lying on the bathroom floor, moaning and groaning through nausea, hoping to throw up all the meds inside of me but still wanting them to work and clear up my sinuses.

Oh.... yuck.

Newish Shoes

So, since I'm a dork and have nothing else to talk about, I'm going to show you the newest additions to my shoe collection. Yup, I'm that bored. And I'm still really sick. Thus, the shoes that I bought last month :)
Denium flats of simplicity

Bowed flats of adorableness

yellow flats of sunshine and epiciness

I'm Officially Published!

Guess what came in the mail today?!?

SUNFLOWERS AND SEASHELLS... the book my poem got published in! It's finally here! I'm finally officially published, and let me tell you, it feels good. :)

Thanks to Eber and Wein for the poetry contest and the chance to be included in this anthology! Totally made my year :)
So, my mom and I are as sick as dogs with colds and no voices to speak of, so when I opened the package, I "screamed" in excitement but it sounded like a tiny half-hearted squeak. We laughed for a while. Then I hiccuped and was in excruciating pain for a minute, which made me laugh harder.

The box that it came in!

138 Books In A Year!

And the official number of novels I read in the year 2010...

138!

Whoa baby. I sure do need to get a life. But we'll talk about my lack of social interaction another time.

First... let's remember the rules of my challenge (The Quest to Read 100 Books in 2010).
"So. THE RULES:
1. I must read the entire book. I am only alloted twenty pages of skippage for the book to count as "read."
2. I may skip more than twenty pages WHILE STILL READING, just to satisfy my need to know what happens, but MUST go back and read the skipped pages for it to count as "read."
3. I may reread books, but again, they must be read all the way through (omitted the twenty pages overall, in dire and neccesary situations) not just skimmed, to count as "read."
4. If I can't give a review of the book after reading it, this means I was falling asleep while reading it, and therefore must go back and reread the parts I can't remember to make it "count."
5. More rules may be added as neccesary. But none may be eliminated.
6. My own works do not count. Okay, Let It Be does, but only if I read it straight-through. Which I rarely do.
7. Textbooks DO count, but seeing as not only do I not POSSESS any, the fact that I'm going to read it from cover-to-cover (omit alloted twenty pages) is so highly unlikely I might laugh. But I thought it was good rule.
8. All books MUST be completed by January 1st, 12:00 AM. NO EXCEPTIONS. Unless I go into a coma....
....9. If I go into a coma (medicine indused or otherwise) I will be allowed the number of days I was unconscious--- up until January 1st 2010--- to catch up. This is unlikely, but I'd like to be prepared."
-"100 Books in a Year", hollysthoughts.com, May, 2010

Well, obviously I did not sink into any coma during the past year (medicine induced or otherwise), and I followed the rules quite completely. And honestly? It was totally fun. Sure, I'ma dork, but I'm a very happy dork.

Since I don't want to bore you to death, you can check out the list of the first 100 in the September section here or at darklightlullabye.com. I'll only bore you into a temporary stupor by listing the books I read since I completed the first 100.
